The large apartment in an elegant ancient building has been renovated completely reorganizing the entire floor plan. Sharp 45 ° cuts in bearing walls allow direct access to all home’s areas without having to go from room to room. Solutions of acoustic and thermal insulation have significantly reduced the noise due to the nearby Cadorna train station and helped to keep temperature more stable.

"50 shades of gray" ... and silver ... give the flat a refined touch of style enhanced by the use of sandblasted glass and tailor-made furniture. A library obtained by digging the thickness of the wall, oval countertop in the ceiling and a magical glass table with no legs help to make this apartment an interior design gem.

    MEDITATION TREE

organized for Beijing Design Week 2012 hold in Water tank of 751 D-PARK from September 27 to October 2nd. Design by Architetto Luigi Brenna for ARCHINAPSI with the aid of Architetto Umberto Bonetti. Ranking: 2nd place.

    DESCRIPTION

Density is a peculiar characteristic of our urban life. Many people living in the same place give us the illusion of being in a vibrant place where everything happens, but it means also not having a space to think or rest. Citizens do not have an empty space where one can find the pleasure of being alone and separate from all the others human beings.

MEDITATION TREE has been designed thinking about this need. The need of being alone, for some times in a pleasant space where one can find and listen to its inner self. The glass balls are like meditation fruits hanging from a symbolic tree where one can find its own architectural and time space. The trunk of the tree is the vertical distribution, which permits to reach "the fruit” which better responds to our state of mind or taste. Carbon fiber branches allow the horizontal path to the fruits.

The aerial roots of the artificial mangrove create an organic “portico” which have the double role of indicating the tree entrance and support it. Each ball or fruit is covered with a shield of solar panels able to give energy necessary to heat and light the balls.

    Good meditation to every body!

    ZONA WASHINGTON ▪ MILANO

    RENOVATION OF INTERIOR ▪ SQ.M. 140

    PROJECT MANAGEMENT: LUIGI BRENNA

A bright apartment has been completely rethought turning around its previous layout, in order to optimize the use of spaces and increase the aesthetic pleasure. The kitchen, once isolated in a narrow, long room, was transformed into a large cooking area hidden from view, thanks to a 45 ° cut that frames the living area directly from the entrance.

The master bedroom becomes the gateway for access to 3 service areas (toilets, dressing room, study / laundry room) illuminated by a long veranda. The rest of the sleeping area is served by a bright bathroom covered with blue and white small precious mosaic tiles.

The aisle that leads to two bedrooms ends with a large storage room. The materials are simple, but elegant: brushed herringbone natural oak floors throughout the apartment; Ce.SI ceramics for the bathroom of children, while the stoneware CASALGRANDE PADANA makes the master bathroom looks like a straight quarry of rock enriched only by niches and LED color therapy lights.

From the wall of the living room background emerges as a sculpture, a plasterboard library with niches illuminated by mini LED positioned symmetrically.

The corridor is "covered" by a long regular furniture specifically designed with white lacquered doors and squared handles dug into the thickness of the doors that mark the length of the path ending in a library with tapered profile shelves. The rooms' sliding wall satin doors LUALDI create a light atmosphere free from edges and projecting profiles.

White is the predominant color from which stand out a few bluish touches that can be seen on the wallpaper, in the master bedroom, on the hallway ceiling and on the ceramic of the kitchen floor.

If we had to describe the apartment in simple words we could use the following: comfortable, airy, elegant and understated.

    BARBAPAPA' RING

    DESIGNERS: LUIGI BRENNA

A shiny ring, but soft and enveloping like an embrace. It has the shape of love because you can see a fetched heart, but more willingly in the bean shaped ring hosting brown diamonds is comparable to a Barbapapà. That's why each one can see what they like.

    SNAKE RING

    DESIGNERS: LUIGI BRENNA

Symbol of "forever" that men - mortal, fragile, ephemeral and perishable – wish to reach, the ring is an "immortal" closed circle where the start and the end can’t be found. These are the thoughts that were wandering in my mind when I designed the Snake Ring. I thought about a ring which had got a head and a tail like a snake that wanting to steal a diamond and not having hands decide to bear it opposing to its forked tongue, its pointed tail. The ring starts "one" and becomes "two" trapping the diamond that have no chance to move.
